Screen Customization

While screen customizations were saved previously in CT3, only the most recent layout could be saved.  Additionally users could not save column sets that a user might want for an analysis screen.  Column sets refer to the columns in a grid that are visible and their ordering.  With the new changes to layout customization saving a user can save multiple layouts/column and depending on where they are stored, other users can access the same customizations across the same site or even across all sites on a master database.

Selecting and Deleting Customizations

The existing Column set button, found on the daily entry analysis screens, and the Layout button, found at the top right of CT3 have been expanded on.  The Column set button reflects the Layout button and has the same options, except for the Reset Layout option.  We wanted the button to remain for the users who are used to this functionality.  Additionally we kept the built in column sets as an option to use and a user can select one of these and further modify the column set and then save it to their customizations to use later.

Column set button

Layout button

Upon loading a screen the most recent column set/screen customization should be loaded.  When clicking the Column set button, or Layout button then Layouts submenu, a drop down list will appear.  This will show any currently existing layout customizations/column sets, if any exist.  The user can switch between these as they please, altering the layout and/or column sets depending on their selection. Next to any existing column set there is an X button, this is used to delete a layout customization/column set.  If clicked the user will be prompted to confirm they actually want to delete.

Reset Layout

The other option under the Layout button is Reset Layout, this will return the current screen to it’s originally programmed layout.

Saving Customizations

Save layout

When looking at the drop down from the Column Set button or the Layout submenue under the Layout button, there is an option to save screen layout.  When this is clicked the user will be preseted with a screen where they can choose where they want to save the customization, and how they want to name it.  The options for storing the customization are User, Site, and All-Site.  User customization are stored directly on the users computer in zip folders and are only available to the user that created them.  Site customizations are accessible to any user on the same site, the same as with report customizations.  All-Site customizations are accessible to any user, at any site, on the same client database.  When the users is selecting the name for their customization, they may have a warning (yellow exclaimation mark) or and error (red X) appear next to the name.  The error will appear if the user has not entered a name for the customization or if it has illegal characters in the name.  The warning appears if the user is naming the customization the same as an existing customization.  Once the user has selected the storage and the name, pressing the Ok button will save it accordingly and it will now appear in the list under the layout button when that screen is open.
